Creating Language Objectives for ELL Student Population Attending General Education Classes
Effective lesson planning for English language learner students include having clear content and language objectives.. Teachers will have the opportunity to look the Collaboration Tool in order to explore the Academic language involved in writing language objectives that will accelerate their student’s English language acquisition. We will take a look at some student writing samples and learn strategies to understand ELLs current skills with the Systemic Functional Grammar approach (Dostal, Bowers, Kilpatrick, 2017). We will explore possible language objectives for classroom instruction.

Immigrant Students and Families in BPS: Policies and Resources
The Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA) and Irish International Immigrant Center (IIIC) have partnered to create a professional development for teachers and school staff to better support immigrant students and families in BPS. This training will provide educators a more holistic understanding of federal immigration policies such as TPS, DACA and asylum, as well as city wide resources.
