Effective lesson planning for English language learner students include having clear content and language objectives.. Teachers will have the opportunity to look the Collaboration Tool in order to explore the Academic language involved in writing language objectives that will accelerate their student’s English language acquisition. We will take a look at some student writing samples and learn strategies to understand ELLs current skills with the Systemic Functional Grammar approach (Dostal, Bowers, Kilpatrick, 2017). We will explore possible language objectives for classroom instruction.
