ELL's can benefit greatly from approaching a text multiple times. Transforming a curriculum text into scripted dialogue can help students with their reading, oral pronunciation, public speaking confidence and visualization of a story. When students act things out they can become more immersed in a story and develop a deeper understanding of it. It was especially fun for my students this year to hear a story read to them and then be able to take on characters within that story. Participants will gain tools to adapt texts into plays and to create plays collaboratively with their students.
